Roller Coasters and the Iron Man
Although this weekend had nothing to do with our heading west, it was a weekend filled with fun times spent with my niece Kailey and my nephew Sky as we prepare to spend as much time with family as possible before we move. I do not at the moment have any pictures since our camera was stolen, but as soon as Kailey sends me the ones on her camera I will post them.
Saturday we woke up early and got to Six Flags over Texas as they opened the doors. Our first ride was the Judge Roy Scream which is a "smaller" wooden roller coaster that we thought (key word thought) Sky would like since it wasn't as huge as the Texas Giant. I sat with Sky and Greg sat with Kailey. Greg turned to look at Sky during the first drop and he knew Sky would not have a pleasant ride. He is only 5 and just barely tall enough. But he did not cry and decided he would wait until he was older to ride it again. We then spent the rest of the time at the park (almost 7 hours) riding roller coasters and all kinds of other fun Sky Friendly rides.
We got home and kicked back for a while and then we headed out to the movies to watch Iron Man with Robert Downey, Jr. and Gweneth Paltrow. The movie was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it to everyone. It was funny, scary (at least that is what Kailey reported) and action packed. Be sure to stay through the credits (and yes, they are dreadfully long) to see just a wee bit more to the story. We also got to see a trailer for the upcoming new Batman movie with the late Heath Ledger playing the Joker...once again...what an huge loss for Hollywood and the entertainment industry...cannot wait to see it!
We then took the kids to Baskin and Robbins for ice cream. Yes Kyla...I have quite the confession for you from this weekend. We got home Sky watched for the first time Men In Black and just loved it.
During all of this my sister Jenni and brother-in-law Kyle had a day all to themselves. They spent the first part of the day exploring downtown Plano which they really liked. Then they headed off to Jenni's annual pilgrimage to Frisco, TX for the Kenny Chesney concert. First to come on was Leianne Rhimes, then the oh so spectacular Brooks and Dunn and then Frisco came to a screeching halt for Kenny Chesney to come on stage.
Sunday we slept in late and ran usual errands to Target.
So it was a GREAT weekend and the weather was absolutely fabulous!
Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow...which I am certain will occur somewhere in my 100 mile round trip commute.

Oh what a fun weekend!! That sounds like yall had a blast with the kiddos! And don't worry...little ice cream splurges with your niece and nephew are worth every calorie! :-)
Oh, this does sound like a special weekend. The kiddos will always remember the fun they have had with you both :)
I forgot to go but one day last week Baskin Robbins had 31 cent ice creams in celebration of an anniversary or something like that.
Nice chatting with you today.
Steve was just talking about the Iron Man movie too - never heard of it before.
